Scott Ryan collaborated with Greg Faulkner (now of Faulkner Architects) to design Lahontan’s clubhouse, family recreation center, gatehouse that opened in 1998.
Faulkner and Ryan also coauthored the first edition of Lahontan’s The Community Design Book in 1996, creating architectural design guidelines meant to create a sense of cohesion and unity for future homes.
In the summer of 1998 they celebrated their vision coming to life.

Scott Ryan opened the doors of Ryan Group Architects in Truckee, CA, setting a course for a practice defined by deep site-responsiveness, regional craft traditions, and a commitment to creating spaces that resonate with both place and purpose.

Annie MacFadyen enhanced the team with her expert Interior Design talents when she joined the team in 2009. As her commitment and collaboration grew as an integral part of the team, she became an owner in 2019.
She is an important part of the process, bringing a refined material palette and a human-centered layering of light, texture, and detail to both residential and commercial commissions.

Ben Garberson joined the team in 2011 adding architectural intelligence and precision to the team. His dedication and value lead him to join as partner in 2022.
He continues to strengthen our technical rigor and helps guide the firm through complex mountain-environment projects—from modern cabins to mixed-use adaptive reuses.

Ed Lupyak joined the team in 2016 as Landscape Architect.
His commitment and keen eye to add beauty to each project led him to partnership in 2024.
Every season he is seamlessly weaving exterior and interior design strategies to steward site ecology, views, and outdoor living throughout the Tahoe region.
